I'd still jump up to 3.73 even if he has the 3.23. I did and it was a noticable difference. Now I agree if you have to pay to get it done, I probably wouldn't bother.... but if you can do it yourself it's < $200/parts and took me about a day to do (was my first time setting up gears). Although it did take some research, but I also had all the tools, dial indicators, and such to do it as well....

Ok..once again then, how would I find out for sure? is that something I need a mech for, or can I check just by lookin at something in the car?

Look on your drivers door jamb for a sticker with a bunch of alphanumeric codes. These are your RPO codes, and tell you what your car was built with. GU2 means you have 2.73, GU5 means you have 3.23.

What about upgrading the cam shaft. they cost about $500. but how much will installation cost? How much does it usually cost to take out the engine?

It's alot of money involved, you will need to upgrade springs, valves depending on what size cam. You'll also need a new timing chain, oil pump (recommended) and why do you need to take out the engine? Labor costs will kill you on a cam swap, do the reasearch and do it yourself.

On a budget it can be done for around $1,000 doing the labor yourself. I'd say $2,000 with labor but I really don't know for sure...

yes, because a turbo on a stock motor is a GREAT idea

honestly, headers, exhaust, a lid, gears, and stall should get you by for now

A rear mount turbo at 5psi or a ProCharger at 5psi is perfectly fine on a stock motor.
