Need opinions/help w/what type of headers will work best.

I have an 02 Z-28 w/a Borla Y-pipe(3") and full Borla cat back(3"). The y-pipe fit perfectly in place of the stock y-pipe and I am looking for a good set of headers that will fit without major modification. Any ideas/opinions are welcome on brand and type .

Better decide on a budget. Headers range from ~$300 to over $1000.

No long tube headers will work with that Y-pipe without major mods.

I would like to stay under $700 as a budget. So long tube headers will not work with the stock y-pipe? If not lt's what does thay leave my options with?
The cats. are hollowed out as they are so I will have no need to have them in the system, and even with the cats. removed the lt's won't fit?

What are the pros and cons of shorties? Will they be worth it if I do decide to purchase a set?

The shorties would be much more ideal then stock manifolds. Usually, but not always, long tubes will offer better gains over shorties or mid-lengths.But then again, the headers you use really depends on your budget and whatever emissions regulations you got.

Emissions is not a worry for me. The main thing I am looking for is overall performance. I am weighing the option lt's with major mod. to my borla y-pipe or shorties with no mod. What do you guys think?

shorties on an '02 arent really worth it. 01 and 02 f-body's have better exhaust manifolds. The y-pipe you got is pretty much worthless if you don't want to keep your stock manifolds. If you dont need cats, you can get coated pacesetters for $500 with a new y-pipe that will fit your the LT's.
