New '02 Z28!!!
I was just approved for a loan for a '02 Z28, F*CK YEA!!! 25 Miles on this Bad Black Beast. 30Gz for it, its all optioned out, I get to pick it up 2marrow. I've never been this excited in my life. Now, down to business, I've heard people telling me that you have to break in new engines...what is this all about? How do I go about breaking in this LS1? And when should I put it through its first Zaino coat? Fluid Changes? Is there anything else I should know or do during its baby steps?

I was saying the same thing last year. Got my 02 Z in June of 2001 Payed the same thing you did at *** raping interest. Payments are 645 a month, but i love it. What you should do is keep your speed varying on the freeway, don't stay at a constant speed and stay away from criuse control. Do this for the first 500 miles. Let is run up and down the rpm's, but don't red line it. Plus decelerating using your gears i heard is a good idea. Be ready for it to burn a little oil as it goes on. Got 20,000 miles and i use about 1 and a half quarts of synthetic every 6000 miles.

Not to be a buzzkill or anything, but $30,000 for a Z28? Mine -- fully optioned -- was only 23,400!
Anyway, on to your questions. The first 500 miles are the break-in period. GM recommends that you not drive over 55mph, and avoid "constant" speeds (like cruise control) and WOT runs. I believe that the car should be introduced to the way it's going to be driven regularly, so I did a few "spirited" runs right outta the box
First oil change @ 3000 miles, when I switched to Mobil 1 10W30 and the M1-206 filter.
First Zaino coat -- whenever you have the time.
Congratulations and have fun

23,000 for a fully loader Z28? I dont think so. I Used the GMS discount for GM workers and 2002 cash cash back. I have an almost fully loaded Z28 i dont have the 12 disk or Hurst the only 2 optnios i dont have, and i wish i could have paid 23,000. At GMS i got the car under dealer cost and used the cash back. Unless you work or have family that works for GM. You cant get a better price on one then GMS price. Base price on a Z28 is 23,000 with no options. I think you may have got V6 for that price.
Anyways, Nice car take car of it welcome to the club now go kill some mustangs

Congratulations Man, you're going to LOVE IT! Did you get the 6-spd or Auto? Vary the speed for the first few hundred miles, and don't worry much about going over 55 mph, that's hard to do in these cars!! Just have fun and enjoy!!!

BlackBowTie -- MSRP was 26,735 for my Z with the preferred equipment group (1SC?), t-tops, leather interior, performance axle, etc. The car is an auto (no Hurst option). "Fully loaded" was a bad term to use, as I didn't get a 12-disk changer, chrome wheels or the appearance package. $500 under invoice brought the car to $24,000 something and I also used a $1000 rebate certificate that is available to anyone through the Camaro legends tour.
Now is that so hard to believe?
In any event, I know that prices have been high due to the final year sales of these cars, but I think a better price than $30,000 could be had.

Actually the car is 27 Grand after the 3G rebate that I had. Anyway, I think it's a great deal to get a car w/ 325+HP right out of the box for 30,000$ so I'm happy about the purchase. Thanks for the support and answers. I'll have pics up 2marrow :-)

The reason mine was 30K was because I bought it a month before the 0% interest. Plus i am 22 and the car is in my name so it's not like i got the best interest either. Salesman gave me 14,000 for my 99 GT that was worth about 11,000, so i would break out even, kept the price at 27,000 sticker and then added interest. Came out to about 32,000 from the loan, damn i wished i had waited a few weeks, but f*&k it. I love this thing.

These cars are friggen' sweet, and I love the feeling I get everytime I get into the car! It's so prestine inside (well, compared to all of my past cars!), and it seems so quiet compared to how fast and powerful the car truly is! So far I've had the car upto 220km/h (~135 mph), which is damned fast, but up until about 200km/h (~120 mph), you wouldn't really know you're going that fast unless you looked at the speedo --- it's that smooth!
Congrats dude! You will love your car!

You guys love buying the loaded cars. I looked for 3 months and couldn't find what I wanted, so I ordered one with just leather and the 1sc power group mn6, sebring silver, no t-tops.But they wouldn,t come down on the price, did have a $1500 rebate, I paid $23500 for exactly what I wanted, I followed the owners manuel for break in. These cars r great, big difference from my 96 z.

Anybody know of any insurance companies that are more lenient on young guys w/ new Camaro V8z? Right now I'm paying 350$/month and I'm 19, someone told me that is a good deal but it doesn't sound to good to me.

I found my insurance company (MIC - Motors Insurance Company) through the GM Canada website. I think that GM owns MIC, but I'm not sure if they're strictly Canadian or if they're American as well. Their rates are very good though IMO, considering the company I was with wanted nearly $9000/year which is about $750/month! So when I did the online quote at MIC, I was glad to see their price was about the same as my old company wanted to insure me on my old '96 Sunfire.
HTH.
