New Cam..Does this Sound Right?

I just put in a Thunde Racing 224/224 cam and a TCI 3000 stall in my 99 Z28 A4.

I was dynoed at 313hp prior to the cam upgrade.

I am now dynoed at 331hp.

Does this sound right? Seems a little on the light side to me.

Thanks in advance.

I have LT's. They did custom tune it. The valve springs came from Thunder Racing as part of the cam kit. What do you mean it isn't going to change my HP?

Terrible numbers. Something isn't right. Check your springs, rockers, programming, etc. Stock exhaust manifolds? Restrictive exhaust?

That cam with boltons *should* put you around 385-400 rwhp. You might have a severe misfire or something, possibly a fuel delivery issue.

They are telling me it is because I have an automatic. That if I had a manual I would be around 360-370. That make sense to you guys?

so you put down 313 with headers/bolt ons? ive heard of people hitting that stock. you should be at 330-340 with headers, and then 360-380 through an auto with the cam.

Maybe the dyno is messed up. How does your car feel? any problems with it? how many miles on it?

313 w/ headers/bolt ons in a 99 a4 is not inconceivable. Although I agree with headers/cam you should be a lot higher than where you are. Headers compliment a cam very well.

Re: New Cam..Does this Sound Right?

I have about 73,000 on it. It feels good. I have only drove it once since they put the cam in. they are still tweaking the idle.

I have ran 12.9 but pretty much cut 13.2's consistantly on street tires.

The car felt faster with the cam in it but I know your head can play games with you too.

Ok I called htem again and they said that this is with the stall NOT locked out. Still seems like an awfuly small gain.

Re: New Cam..Does this Sound Right?

You should post your dyno sheet if you can. How long did you run the car before shut down? Realize that with the new cam your powerband has been moved up as well. If you only ran the car to like 5200 RPM for example you are probably shutting down near the top of your power band (ie. you are missing some power). Just a thought...start witht he simple things first.

Did you have it dyno'd on a DynoJet or Mustang?

It dont sound right man. I cut 13.2's stock in my car on street tires.
Somethings up. Mid 12's should be a peace of cake with your setup and you should be trapping 112+MPH. Might want to have the fuel pressure checked or maybe question the tune. But somethings not right.

Re: New Cam..Does this Sound Right?

I haven't ran since I did the cam. I have never seen a stock A4 run anything under 13.5's in my area.
