I just bought a 1999 firehawk trans am, and i'm wondering why it doesn't say ws6 on the back of it, like the 01-02's do is it just a trans am that was sent to slp? or did they just take it off so that they could write firehawk on the back of it...also, i was wonderin what the car actually puts down to the wheels and what the horsepower rating is, off the lot, thanks

as far as hp, there is a thread on the front page of this section of the forum that has just the info you are looking for.

 

Firehawk is a package just like WS6, SS, etc is a package that was put on a base f-body whether it was a Formula, Ta or Z28 to begin with.

I believe the Firehawk package option name was WU6, but was not on any cars obviously..

yep, no 2 ways about that one, so seeing as some people really don't know what the firehawk is, maybe someone could reply that has a clue, not sounding rude or nothin, i just want reliable info like everyone does

 

The later WS6 was built by APC not modded by pontiac.

The ws-6 to my knowledge was made at the plant in canada that no longer exists..........

BTW: 79lt1t/a........no firehawk has the ws-6 badge on the right rear under the tail light.....if it does it is not a firehawk...........the ws-6 has a ram air hood and so does the firehawk...............but the f/h is smoother as doesn't have as much rise is the hood baffles..........anyone with a ws-6 who says its a firehawk is an idiot......firehawks have distinct wheels, hood, badging, etc...

go to slp.com and check out a firehawk.........does it have the same hood and wheels as the ws-6.......then your ws-6 is not a firehawk

 

The Firehawk is a Formula, not a Trans-Am.

LS1's came both ways as firehawks...

LT1 hawks were formulas, LT1 TA's were Comp TA's.

 

96-97 SS/WS-6=> SLP
98+ WS-6=> ASC
98-end 2000 SS =>SLP, at some point around 2001 SS production went to GM. THat part is a little fuzzy
All Firehawks (93-97 Formula only),(98-2002 Formula or TA)=> SLP
