new guy needs help w/ rear axle
Hey guys, I have just found a 1998 pontiac firebird that i'm considering getting but it needs some work, needs a front bumper, rear bumper, right rear quarter pannel and also a new rear axle or repaired rear axle, I was just windering if anyone knew about how much a rear axle would cost? also, does it have to be form a 98-02 firebird? It seems like a good buy at the price but I just wanted to get an idea of the price for a rear axle, Thanks, Travis

get a complete car.. clean and set or you will hate your car..
why? if it has that much wrong odds are something bad happened like it hit something.. if your drivetrain doesnt line up it may not just drive like butt, but also it may damage components since they wont be at straight enough angles..
just steer clear of it is what I would suggest.. I know you are wanting to know prices, but it wouldnt be worth it really... cause if something does go wrong you will always wonder if it really was a bargain..

I have to agree with psychocabbage on this one. I would avoid a car that has been wrecked at all costs if I were you. You might get a great deal going in.. but after you repair the car and deal with all the crap that could go wrong down the road it is just not worth it.
