Are NGKs the best spark plugs?
I am about to do the spark plug change out. I've noticed that the NGKs are the prefered spark plug around here. But are they really the best spark plug over other platinum plugs? Or are NGKs just the spark plug of the moment?
Appreciate your opinions.

The platinum plugs are a waste unless you` change your plugs often. The platinum wears off really quick in our cars.
NGK being the best? Who knows, but it's what we use.

The whole point of going to a platinum plug was to allow longer intervals between plug changes, not to make you change plugs more often. I had over 60K on my LT1 and went to MSD wires so I thought I would change the plugs while I was in there. The plugs looked fine and the gap was still at .045. RNCotton, what makes you have to change yours so often?
Oh and as far as spark plug choice, I would use whatever the manufacturer recommends which in this case I would imagine it would be ACDelco platinums.

PFFT!
Just what I want to do, put a set of ricer plugs in my LS1.
How could that 99 Cent Crap possibly have any type of high performance quality to them?

Hands down... Bosch platnums.
They last 10x longer than NGKs.
And the other platnum brands are junk. Examine them closely, you will see that they are standard plugs with a tiny 'disc' of platnum brazed to either the electrode or strap. These discs fall off the plug on the second or third 5500 rpm blast. Then you are left with an improperly gapped standard plug. The AC plugs are like this, all but Bosch are like this. If you look at Bosch, you will see it has a solid platnum electrode. It cannot go anywhere and doesn't wear like a standard electrode.
BOSCH PLATNUMS!

If I had to guess, it would be because the platnum discs get blown off the plug that much faster...

Ive used Bosch Platinum plugs on two camaros and have been dissapointed.... My old 1991 Z28 and my current 1998 Z28.... Each time i thought the AC Delco Plugs performed the best for longer... Bosch plugs seem to be tailered more for import cars... However, i started useing NGK TR6s when i started useing nitrous and i have felt thebest throttle response with NGK... They are only suppose to last 6K miles only becaus im useing nitrous but i have been happy with them for the past 1K miles... They are doing great...

FYI Stock plugs on LS1 Camaros are Nippo
Denso Platinum Plug not AC Delco. I have been using the NGK IX55 Iridium plugs for about 23K miles now without a hickup. Take your pick AC Delco, Champion, NGK, Nippo Denso they all make good plugs, just make sure you get the correct heat range and gap them correctly.

AC Delco Rapidfires get my vote.I like them 10x better than the Bosche platinums. They worked great in my old car NA and Juiced.I don't know about the NGK's since I never used them.
