Talking Nifty Idea

I just purchased a k&n FIPK filter from a guy on ebay. He said that he used his stock lid with the silencers and hooked up the filter to the oval opening. I dont know about you guys but other than the fact that it looks a little funny i think it would pretty much do the same job(performance wise) rather than buying the whole 300 dollar kit. If anyone has any thoughts about this let me know. thanx!

"Not quite ..."

fraid so...least on 3 of the 4 styles of Fbody...z28, SS, trans am

the direct ram air of the WS6 would be to only one that likely shows any gains with the K&N over a lid.

well i guess i'm assuming you do the free ram air mod with the lid to get more air in. but still the lid will provide nearly identical results on most setups as the more expensive K&N.

And still inaccurate ... I pulled 23 rwhp over stock with just a FIPK as my first and only mod ... everyone I know who put one on a dyno pulled 16 or more ... a lid pulls 10 rwhp at best.

We've gone over all this before on this board for years ... you and I have gone over it before.

I've got my track results in my sig ... I've posted my dyno gains over stock ... you have no quantative evidence to to say a lid is equal to a FIPK.

Jeez let's not get into this again. I and many others will never agree that dyno numbers with a K&N with the hood open are compareable to any closed lid. It's just too apples and oranges.
Track results are more compareable and then only if you can get the 2 cars at the same track.
You ran 12.12 with headers and a FPIK and I ran 12.15 with a lid and SSRA without headers 2 different times 2 different tracks.
