oil pumps on the LS1

Never heard of them failing exactly.I think the only issue was on the '98s during high-speed cornering the pump might get a little starved.46k on mine with no issues (knock on wood).Good luck.

it has been known to happen, that LS1's are notorious for there ****ty oil pumps!

The LS1 oil pump has had problems with the
relief valve sticking open. The oil pump
engineer has been working on it for a long
time to determine the exact problem. I've
been told there is a solution.
On the other hand it is an excellent pump.
It is a G rotor pump which supplies enough
pressure and volume with less parasitic
losses.
Hope this helps.
