I use Mobil 1 FWIW. I try to read all this tech data on oils, but all I care about is how it has been working in my car, which apparrently is good, no problems with oil pressure, even right before a change. So i'll use my own tech data..."works good for me..."

med_reject: If you think the statements on Mobil's website that lists virtually all of their Mobil 1 passenger car formulations as GF-4 are lies then you should file a class action suit against them.

moderator: I'm just trying to nip this "urban legend" falsehood before it takes root here. If they're not challenged then they continue on forever like the "Accel products are junk" myth and the "the LT1 hotcam and/or LT4 conversion is almost worthless" myth and the "Mobil 1 is OK but it's too thin for it's weight" myth.
Nowhere on their website do they claim that their mobil 1 stuff is GF-4 base. They say its fully synthetic, that is uses PAO technology, that it contains GF-4, etc. etc. and when you ask them over the phone, they flatly refuse to answer in anything but similar vague language, saying its "fully synthetic", that they use group 4 mixtures, and that I should not think about the base formulation.

YOu find me a straightforward statement on mobil's website that says their oil is group 4 base. Gas chromatography done on their mobil 1 product showed group 3 base (see link further above in this thread).

Its available in Winnipeg, Canada, but only the 1L bottles. I have yet to come across a 5L jug. I bought 4 1L bottles of German made Castrol 0w30 today at walmart (they only had 4 left today). They are available at Partsource and Napa as well. I couldnt find any in Edmonton, AB, so i wonder if certain cities in the U.S. may still have it
