Pilot Bearing install ?

Pilot Bearing install ?
I've had so many diff answers on which side goes toward engine and which faces the Tranny... this guys explains it this way: is this right way then?
here they are:" When you look at the bearing, from one side you can see the bearing and needle rollers, the other side appears closed - the closed side goes toward the engine, the bearing side toward the clutch/transmission - hope that makes it more clear"
Everyone on forums say beveled side faces tranny and flat side toward engine..but which is beveled side, according to guy above it would be closed side where bearings are not visible ? correct ?
thanks,
jim

Re: Pilot Bearing install ?
I preffer using a solid pilot bearing to a roller bearing 'cos I've seen a lot of them totally torn up with hard use. Look at the bearing and one side should be flat and the other side should be formed in a way that it's easy for the input shaft to slide into (kinda bevelled, if that's the word everyone uses).
