Practical to remove LT and exhuast 4 smog?
what im asking is i would like to put long tubes, y pipe, no cats and a nice system maybe a chambered exhaust.
Would it be practical or worth it to run that setup?
i live in cali where when i smog i would have to remove the old and in with the stock! me and my gramps can do the switch but i mean its 2 days work around smog.
the rest of the time is it worth it? what can of Hp will i gain and will it be to loud? would a cop beable to be like he has LT and no cats? thanks, i dont know much about the topic.

I too live in CA, so I'm constantly worrying about smog when it comes to modding my car... As to whether or not longtubes are worth it, it all depends on what your future plans are for the car. For instance, if a cam is in your future, than LT's are a must because it will allow you to harness the full potential of the cam. People generally see around 25+ RWHP from LT's, I've seen all kinds of different gains from them.
Another thing, your car is going to be pretty loud if your running LT's with no cats, especially if you choose the Loudmouth as your cat-back. I don't think the police would hassle you for it, just as long as you're not going WOT or letting the rev's get too high, otherwise they would be more likely to pull you over.
I'm considering running Mac Midlengths with Carsound cats, simply because I don't plan on putting heads/cam or anything of that nature on my car. People with somewhat stock cars can often see 20 RWHP from midlengths, which isn't much less than LT's on a stock motor. Even with midlengths you're relocating your cats, which is supposed to be illegal, but I figure its better than running LT's with an ORP.
So in summary to my unneccisarily long post, it all depends on what your future mod plans will be. Search around the board, you'll hear a lot of good info. Good luck with your decision!

Some people have said to have found shops that "skip" the visual inspection and rely soley on the sniffer. That is why I will probably end up running Mac Midlengths with Carsound/Random Tech cats.
If you don't mind me asking, what are your future plans for your car? Are you thinking of heads/cam or anything of that nature?
