Thumbs up Question on HTPP III

Has anyone ever experianced a horsepower lost after they used the Hypertech programmer on their LS1 engine? A few Tech mention to me that they Dyno a few customers vehicles after they use the hypertech programmer they lost power. How true is this?

I was thinking about getting a HTPP III and 160deg Stat!

Re: Question on HTPP III

Dont waste your money on it. I have one and only used it for tires, gears, and shift firmness. I messed with the rev limiter thing and the gear switching thing but that wasnt a good idea. I tryed flooring it to go around someone going slow as all hell and it hit the rv limiter big time. Turned it back to stock and just done the Gears, tires, and shift firmness and its been fine ever since. It doesnt do air/fuel mixture etc.. Which can hurt your engine if you dont know what your doing.

If your using it for gears (recalibrate your speedo) then do it but if not leave it alone. Havent tried the dyno yet but if there is any loss of power anywhere I sure cant tell it.

I don't know about a horsepower loss, but I don't think it gave much of a gain if any. Its great for gears, tires, rev limiter if you go with a bigger cam, but If your looking for power its not worth it to me.

Re: Question on HTPP III

Ok, Well I guess I will wait until i get my headers and 373 gear before I get my car Dyno tuned.

My debate was is it worth buying a HTPP3 and due a few mods and get my car dyno later. But since the HTPP3 is only use to make minor changes I might as well wait and get it tuned on the dyno. I looking for hp!!!

Re: Question on HTPP III

a horsepower loss is not likely but i have heard of people saying that they have a loss of power. Most likely people buy the reprogramer for the gears ect. and they probably experince a loss because of the new gears you might gain a few hp # but you wont really notice a differnce in power .Hope that helps.

Thanks, I will wait until I get the rest of my parts and get a dyno tune rather than buy the HTPP3.

Re: Question on HTPP III

the problem with the "power tuning" is that the hypertech advances timing all over the curve to try and make power...unfortunately most of the time it leads to pinging which in turn triggers knock retard, pulling timing and costing power. the hypertech is great for adjusting stuff but leave the power tuning alone. its not worth it.
