Question on true duals and suspension

I'm doing true duals in January, but for traction help, I need a torque arm.

My question is: Do i need to do the torque arm before welding up the true duals? It looks like there may not be enough room to fit it over the x-pipe if I did the duals first.

any thoughts?

If you use an x or h pipe it won't be true duals. True duals are two separate pipes. The sound is way better with true duals compared to an x pipe exhaust (imo). But they say a true dual setup will decrease performance but that decrease would be so small that the sound you get from it would overshadow the loss.

Wrong. If you add an H or X pipe it is still true duals. You have 2 pipes going back untill they cross, and guess what you have after that........2 pipes! If you want the absolute best performance, go with the X pipe. But I would do the torque arm frist, just to be sure. Any good exhaust shop can route it around the torque arm if needed.

Yeah, you'd have dual exhaust but not true duals. True duals never intersect each other which is why that system is called true. If you have an x or h pipe, sure you have dual exhaust, but it isn't ture dual exhaust. The x or h pipes will perform better than a ture dual system.

It is true dual exhaust... X pipe or H pipe.

The term "true duals" comes from the fact that most any car or truck made after the 1960s with 2 tail pipes has "fake duals". A single I-pipe feeding a dual outlet muffler.
Any exhaust that starts out as 2 pipes and continues as 2 pipes all of the way to it's exit is a true dual exhaust irregardless of whether they intersect in an H or X on the way there. It's still 2 pipes from front to back. Hence duals.

Well it looks like I'm the wrong one here. I was just going buy the local exhaust shops here. When I took my older camaro and later when I took my ramcharger to the shop and had duals put on he asked if I wanted actual true duals or an X pipe. So I took it that the expert new what he was talking about. Silly me! Anyways thanks for setting me straight.

so I should do the torque arm first then?

now all that is left to decide is 2 1/2" or 3" (a highly disputed topic, that I don't want to discuss here. I'll just do research).

and 2nd, how to weld up a cutout right before each muffler....
