Question reccomendation for headers and y pipe

i am going nuts about this, and cant make up my mind. and now would be a good time to pick some headers since tbyrne has 10% off this month.

it has to be long tubes. my mechanic swears by them. anybody have any input?

thanks

and yes, this would be for an LS1

that cant be right. my V6 headers cost more than that.

i am some what torn between the SLP long tubes or the hooker long tubes. when it comes to the SLP i need to know what the effect of removing the egr valve will do (since i have a 2000, they say thats an option)
but then again i love the cheap price of the hookers.

If the car is lowered, go with FLPs. If it's not (or you don't care as much about ground clearance), then go for QTP or Hooker...

good luck!

First of all that is exactly right. Don't believe it? Go to texas speed and performance website and look under exhaust. They carry the pacesetter LT headers coated for under $300. They are the only headers that are that inexpensive and a lot of people swear the quality and gains are on par with hookers.

So I too say get the pacesetters. If money is no object and you want top of the line then get Kooks or flp. Those are some fine headers but at a hefty price. Don't get the SLP headers whatever you do. They have been reported as having ground clearance issues and fitment issues. Plus some have claimed lower then expected HP gains with SLP.

Check out texas speed and performance and get a set of pacesetter LT with Y-pipe for right around $400. Best bang for the buck headers out there IMHO.

Good Luck

QTP Stainless Steel Long Tubes! Trust me on this. Dont go for something cheaper that will rust in a couple of months. And most powerful header out there.

pacesetters...got mine for a little over 300 from summit coated...part # is the same as hooker so i think they are just rebadged hookers for 100 bucks less.

i'm thinkin the same thing cuz they look JUST LIKE the hookers, even the welds look they same

lets say they rust out and you hafta buy a new pair in 3 years....
thats 6 years that you will of had LT's for like 600 bux (since you won't hafta buy the Y-pipe twice) that doesn't sound to bad to me but IMHO i don't think they will do that

to pacesetter

The age-old saying "you get what you pay for" makes me wary the pacesetter. They look sweet, but man... how can they offer those for so cheap and have good quality, and longevity, when other ones are more than twice as much. Pretty much EVERY SLP header that I see for sale on ebay or otherwise has big scrapes on the bottom, and I read constant complaints of them scraping. The slp ones must just sit too low It's too bad, because I was originally going to buy those. The more I look, the better the QTP headers look. I'm thinking QTP + electric cutout

as my "boss" said, "when i bought my hooker exhaust for 200 ppl said it would rust out within a year, its been 3 years now and i don't c a bit of rust on it

so lets see, at the time ppl were paying 600 for borla and he had a nice sound for 200

pay 600 or pay 200, which do you like more?

pacesetter
