Selling my 93 Z28 and buying a 2000. Have a few questions...

Edited by PhantomTA to make sense:

Hey guys,

I am selling my 93 Z28 (For sale link here http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=423711 ). After I sell my car I am going to buy a 2000 z28 from a guy I know and I just wanted to know what I should be able to run at the track, the 2000 is completely stock btw. Also, what do most typical bolt on LS1 cars run?

Thanks for all of the help guys
-George

Re: About To Be Apart

George,

Can you give us more info on the car you are buying? M6 A4? Also modded cars run all different kinds of times. Ive seen bolt on cars in the low 11's and high 10's. Just depends on what bolt ons and traction

The car is a M6, approximately 85k miles and the guy that drives it drives it as a more of point a to b kinda car hes not into racing or driving all that fast he just bought the car when it came out because he really loved it. It is also t-tops so im not sure what kind of weight reduction that plays into.
Thanks

mid to low 13's depending on track condition, driver and tires.

low 11s to high 10s w/ a bolt on car, i thought you need a pretty agressive cam to hit those numbers... i would count on a bolt on car running low 12s with an exceptional one in the very high 11s

well DanBUCF ran a 12.5 or so on not much more than a lid, catback and traction mods...

so tack on another 30-40hp from boltons and you have one fast car.

But with one shattered 10 bolt. George you'll Just want make sure you get a 12 bolt or 9" rearend (may as well upgrade to 4.10's while your at it) before you try to launch a M6 car (with full bolt-ons) hard enough to break into the 11's. But with a stronger rearend, sticky tires and full bolt-ons M6's can easily break into the 11's. Then you can always throw a 100-150 shot of N20 in there

Good luck with selling your old car and grats on the new one

i hope some of you are not forgetting weight reductions and suspension upgrades as critical mods. an lt1 hit 12.26@108.76 on exhaust and 3.73's in a stock dif complete suspension kit on "cheap pep boys tires", so the man says, and so it looks like in the arcticle. he also removed the rear and passenger seats and installed a light weight racing sit on drivers side

so an ls1 with some minor bolt ons and a solid suspension and rear with averegage trackion should at least equal it i figure

So do I. But they have A3's or A4's. With an M6 your taking a big risk launching hard with full bolt-ons. I know a guy who broke his with just a lid, catback and slicks.

"i hope some of you are not forgetting weight reductions"

but if it's a functional daily driver than that isn't very convenient. there are a few things that can be removed, or if you do it just to take it to the track for a day.
but i'd rather keep it in fairly normal configuration so that i know what i can hit everyday on the street.

if you're worried about that extra .2 seconds that a light weight seat and no interior gets you...why not spend the $400 from the seat on more mods?

with $200 more you could have a 100 shot of n20 and drop nearly a second off your time, and do it with the comfort of normal seats, AND have a friend ride with you to the track.
