SES problem with MAF. (running lean)

I recently installed ported MAF ends on my ls1, my engine tripped a SES light later that day (it was running lean)... I thought it might have been because I put something back together wrong... checked it all out, put it back together, reset the code, and tripped again for the same reason.... I reinstalled the stock MAF, and no problems... (the light went off within a short riding time). I returned the aftermarket MAF ends, and purchased a SLP MAF replacement MAF, thinking the electronics in the SLP MAF would fix the problem, but I installed that yesterday, and the same problem.. the SES light tripped again..... I am guessing that it is the same code that tripped again (for running lean).... I will check that later today, but I would bet it is... anyone know how I can fix this problem and get my engine's computer to add the correct amount of fuel with an aftermarket MAF? please help.. thanks

both of my ls1's have done this with aftermarket or ported mafs, its a common problem but can be fixed very easily. i know this sounds crazy but i picked it up off ls1.com a year ago and it works. simply turn your maf backwards. so that the arrow is facing the wrong way, and it will run like a champ. i dont know how or why this works but did it on my last formula and have it done to this one and the ses light goes off and i had it autotapped and it shows the correct mixture of air and fuel. good luck!

that sounds crazy... anyone else have any input on turning the MAF backwards??

anyway..... i went to autozone, and it came up as a code PO137, which they tell me is a low voltage warning from bank 1 sensor 2.. what does this mean, that the sensor is not getting enough voltage???? I was on the way back from autozone, filled up the tank with gas (was almost out), and after driving away from the gas stating, 4 mins later the SES light went off... any ideas......

I've heard several people talk about that ... never tried it myself or seen A-Tap results, but people swear by it.

Other folks will port only one side of the MAF, and leave the other side in its stock form.

Then there's the group that ports the bottom half. They cut the divider out halfway down (and do front and rear the same way)

Personally, I had to go back to the stock MAF on the T/A.
