Shifter noise

Shifter noise
Hi everyone. I'm new here. But I've been reading the forum for years now. This website has loads of information and technical insight. A camaro owners dream. If you can't get what you need here, the members can tell you where. Well, I have a question and I hope you can help me out.
I installed a hurst billet shifter in my 6M over a year ago. Its a great mod. However, just recently I've noticed under hard acceleration, the shifter chatters loudly, like a metallic rattle. It shifts just fine and never pops out of gear. I realize that an aftermarket shifter normally makes more noise than the factory one. However, the noise seems to have become excessive recently. Perhaps its due to a heavier right foot. But maybe something is coming loose in or around the transmission. This car is my daily driver as well as my play vehicle. I like a solid car and would like to eliminate all unnecessary rattles.
What can I do to muffle this noise? Have I just suddenly notice this noise and is it typical? Could it be an indication that the shifter needs adjustment or the transmission mounts need to be tightened?
Thanks in advance
P.S. This is a great website!

First thing I would suggest is to check the u-joints and make sure they are good and possibly the exhaust may be coming loose and it rattles. The best thing i have done along with installing my B&M ripper shifter is to put a polyurethane transmission mount on. The stock tranny mount is rubber and on my car when I shifter it would flex all the way to the stop and it would cause some noise but once I put in a poly mount it became a noticeable difference and I like it a lot better, its a great mod for only $15.

I have that same shifter man, it's the after market hurst. I have those same rattles, esp at high RPMS is gets really chattery...
I wouldn't worry about it. Had my car for 3 years and it's never fallen out of gear.

Thanks for the replies. I too think it may be a weak tranny mount. But I'd like to clarify what the noise is. It is definitely coming from the shifter. Between half and full throttle the shifter begins to rattle/chatter and when starting from a dead stop. The hurst shifter always had some vibration, but it has gotten louder and more frequent recently. Also it isn't as bad in the afternoon after its been sitting in the sun all day. I have also noticed the car vibrates now at slow starts (moving in parking lots for instance) Perhaps this information will help isolate the cause.
Again thanks for your replies.
