raising it would obviously allow a little smoother flow of air to the entire filter, how much of a difference that would make is hard to tell..1 or 2 hp maybe

raise it too much and it hits the hood

and also the SSRA comes with a rubber "weather stripe" piece that seals the front opening of the box...they say its optional...ment to create a more presurized ram air effect. if you raised the box...that stripe would no longer seal it. just a thought

oh...read the "options to free ram air" thread....one response talks about raising the box 1/4" as a max

you could just remove the screws and put some washers or plastic spacers under it to see if you can tell a difference...i wouldn't waste my $$ on the ebay piece

i cant see how using washers would crack the lid, he's just an idiot out there trying to make a few extra bucks on selling things people normally have around the house to do themselves.

The weatherstrip came in the plastic bag that holds your directions.

man i love it when the designer/manufacturer chimes in to answer a question

anyway...i've tried the opening sealed and open with my SSRA...can't tell a difference

i'd be willing to bet it's only 1hp or so

i'm gonna work on something to raise the whole lid unit but keeps it sealed so that i still have the RA affect with the SSRA...

washers or spacers would leave a gap...who knows...something to play with

I tried to take a look but I cannot find it on eBay. Can you e-mail me a link or an item number so I can check it out?

I did the DIY raised air box. Didn't feel a difference at all. Luckily it cost me nothing too.
