SLP loudmouth vs Flowmaster

SLP loudmouth vs Flowmaster
My friend has a 2002 Z28 and is thinking about getting a new exhaust for Christmas. He is debating on whether to get the SLP Loudmouth or Flowmaster 80 series catback (american thunder). A lot of people around here have flowmaster (including myself) and they sound great, but he wants something unique. For $350 the loudmouth is a hell of a deal, but he wants to know how it will sound with his car. Anyone have any clips or experience with this exhaust that could help him out?
Thanks

I have had the flowmaster on my 2001 Z, and although was nice, and sounded good, i think the SLP is better. Better for me anyway, i believe these kinds of things to be more opinion than fact. either way, its going to sound better and free up some power. another thing to take into account is the fact that the slp is stainless and the flowmaster is aluminized. the aluminized will wear out, and the slp wont as fast. however, the stainless will get brittle after awhile from being heated and cooled so often. the slp is a lot louder at idle, and it roars at speed. my friends all have f-bodies and they all say the same thing...damn that thing sounds good. they should know, cause theyre always behind me. the tips are nice in the slp kit too. i went with the larger single tips. and one more thing, the slp is only 325 through ls1motorsports.com. Hope he like the slp, it would be a wise decision.

I have the Loudmouth and I'll never go back to a muffler again. Its not to loud at idle or cruising speed. But a WOT it sounds like your in Nascar or something. My friends can hear me coming from a couple miles away. I don't even listen to the radio hardly, I just listen to the sound of my car.

Loudmouth all the way
You can't go wrong. The price, look and performance. 320.00 shipped from www.stealthperf.com, great service to add. The look, from behind it clean looking and the stainless steel looks great, install is easy. Performance, puts Stangs to shame. Also a bit lighter due to the fact there's no muffler. I would suggest getting a y-pipe at the same because the stock one sucks a$$. 150.00 shipped at Stealth Perfomance.

Here's my two cents. I haven't heard anything better sounding than GMMG on an LS1. I have heard Borla, Flowmaster, Corsa, SLP loudmouth and Hooker none of the above compare to GMMG. Owell thats my opinion.

slp loudmouth
I personally decided to get my loudmouth because of this...
http://www.ftforce.com/listen_f-body.html It is one of my favorite mods on my car. borla sounds a little weaker, but hey that my opinion. I got mine $295 after a price match. Hope this helps

Another vote for the Loudmouth. I love the sound and recieved it shipped for a little over 300 bucks. It bolts on reallllly easy too, took me about an hour to take off old exhaust and put on the LM. Also you gotta love the dual/dual tips.

Do this ... serious ...
Go to a private muffler shop so they won't rape you on the charges. Have them remove the muffler and fabricate a Y-pipe from the stock I-pipe into the stock tips (or tips of your choice)
It has a great sound as the long pipe acts as it's own resonator/muffler.
If you decide it is too loud, then simply order the Dynomax bullitt muffler from Jegs and have that installed in the I-pipe.
Cheap exhaust and it sounds INCREDIBLE !

hey racechick,
thanks for the url to the soundclips. Now I can see (hear) why my neighbor moved.
my impressions
loudmouth = NASCAR (like someone else said)
borla = ? something European
corsa = classic 60s muscle
flowmaster = loudmouth thru earplugs

Another thing that hasn't been discussed is performance. The Loudmouth consistently outperforms the Flowmaster on the dyno. Search some of the other boards, you'll see lots of people gain more from a cutout on a Flowmaster than from a cutoff on any of SLP's exhaust systems, which means the Flowmaster is bottling up the exhaust more.
Just something else to consider.
EDIT: The GMMG mentioned below is a good choice as well, though it's obviously much more expensive. Stick with it or an SLP exhaust. Don't get the Flowmaster unless you're all about sound and don't care if you gain much less hp than with the others, or even lose hp.
