SLP Y-Pipe

Anyone see any real gains using this? I am running stock y-pipe with manifolds and SLP D/D cat-back.

In one word NO. Not by the seat of the pants anyway in my case. The stock pipe actually flows well. I just didnt like it being flat on the drivers side. My cars lowered so its not a clearance issue as the only thing that bangs are the SFCs. If I had to do it over again Id keep the stock Y-pipe and spend the $$$ on some other mod

I bought the SLP y pipe and i love it. I also have a loudmouth setup too. The y pipe made the loudmouth sound much much better and it upped the throttle response. I think it was well worth it.

I was told by Matt at GMMG that they had tested several aftermarket y-pipes ( including SLP's ) and found a little more then a one HP gain over a stock y-pipe. Being my cars lowered I couldn't see installing a aftermarket y-pipe for such a small gain in HP, they may look better then a stock y-pipe but the money could be spent on another mod. JMO

its like putting a funnel on the end of a straw...you still have to deal with those manifolds if you wanna free things up.

If you can, get a little more money and go for some headers. Nice gains found there.

Hmm, do you think the quicktime headers would work with the stock y pipe?

No LT headers will work with the stock y pipe....shorties are only header that will adapt to the stock y pipe.

what y-pipe is the best for shorty headers? I dont want to buy shortys to fit a stock y pipe and then go for an offroad/racing y pipe and have to get all sorts of adapters.

What about sound and fit?

Does it change the exhaust tone at all

Some say it rattles some say it fits 100%?

Mine fit perfectly! And it was easy to install....And the sound difference on my loudmouth was a huge difference. Much deeper tone.
