Speed limiter
Is there an easy way without buying a hypertech to get rid of my 120mph speed limiter. You never know when a vette will try to play.

It has to due with tires. If your car didn't come with "Z" rated tires, you couldn't go over 120mph.

Stock w/o Z rated tires= 118 mph limiter
Stock with Z rated tires= 163 mph limiter
HPP3 can do away with limits.

Why do they have this limiter on it?? I saw something about the tires, but does that really make that big of a difference??
BTW only had mine up to 120

The tires aren't rated to go 160+ MPH, so for that reason GM limits the car to stay within the rated limits of the tires.
Let's say your tires are rated for 125 MPH and your limiter is set at 163 MPH. Then you, like a dumbass, go flying down the interstate at 135 MPH and ***KABOOOOOM*** you have a tire failure, flip the car several times, take out 2 mini vans filled with soccer moms and 14 kids and everyone is killed or injured so badly that they wish they were.
Now ... enter the ambulance chaser lawyers ... The families of the soccer moms sue your *** off for wreckless endangerment and vehicular homicide. They win (duh). They then sue GM for the same reasons you do in the next paragraph.
Now, you hire your own lawyer and sue GM saying that they shouldn't have made the car able to drive faster than the tires are rated. (irregardless of the fact that you were doing 135 in a 60 MPH zone) You win 5.8 Gazillion dollars for pain and suffering, injuries to yourself and wrongful inprisonment for vehicular homicide. This in turn allows you to appeal the earlier judgmet against you since it was GM's fault, not yours.
So you get out of jail and the soccer moms and their families win their lawsuits against GM as well, getting 15.8 GazillionBillion dollars, and put GM out of business, forcing all of us to now drive Mustangs because the entire GM product line is gone forever.
Now do you understand why there is a limiter?

I don't Agree with rncotton because just because your tires are not Z rated doesnt mean going over 120mph a blow out will happen( Im proof ) but check it for yourself
