SSRA leading to overheating?

SSRA leading to overheating?
Been meaning to ask this for awhile before I go buy this part.
I put on my SSRA awhile ago and in doing so basically ruined the black plastic piece that directs air to the radiator. Not the piece under the car, the tow thin pieces that go on both sides of the SSRA. The one I threw out is the piece that is closest to the engine. I won't get into the specifics of the overheating problem, but it's not that bad, just that the temp gauge starts to rise. When I helped install my friend's SLP ram air kit I noticed that the instructions said specifically not to get rid of those pieces.

if done properly...it shouldn't
i've been driving mine in florida heat for almost 3 yrs...1yr with a big cam...and had no problems with overheating.
if your installed it incorrectly...anything is possible

Re: SSRA leading to overheating?
lol, well yeah, that's what I mean. Did I install it correctly? I don't have the thin plastic piece that goes in the "hole" where the SSRA lies. There are two thin plastic pieces that help divert air to the rad after the bottom feeder plastic piece directs it up there from under the car. The thin piece that is closest to the rad is removed and long since tossed because I don't think I could get it to work, or I ripped it. Happened awhile ago, kinda fuzzy. The air is still being brought up by the bottom feeder piece, and the thin piece that lies towards the front of the car is keeping it from going towards the bumper, but is not having the other piece affecting my cooling?
I just want to know if I was supposed to remove that piece or not. Remembering what it looked like I think I would have had to modify the piece to get it to work, so that's why I'm not sure.
