Re: Stock LS1 M6 1/4 mi times
It was really hot and humid that day. His 60ft times were around 2.25 or so. What should he be shifting at? Also this is only his 2nd time at the track and he is still getting used to launching it.

yeah if he can drive the m6 properly he should be hitting 13.4's,13.3's. but seeing as how he is just learning how to launch it and the humidity was so high thats about right. just have him practice launching it and the times will get down there.

13.56 @ 107 mph last July. Stock tires at 30 psi. Didn't even take out the jack and spare. I had to roll out of the hole then get on it or have severe wheel spin. Only had the car for a little over a month at that point, so hadn't worked out the launching yet.

LS1's from '01 - '02 should "theoretically" run a little quicker since they've got the LS6 intake and different cam profile. Stock 6-speed LS1's have been run into the 12's (12.9~ish), although low 13's are more common and more realistic. However, running a standard leaves a lot of room for error (launching and shifting). On more than one occasion, I've seen M6 LS1's at the track running high 13's while I've been running low 13's, and even my buddy with a bone stock '97 (LT1) Z28 can run 13.8's!!!
Basically, tell your Dad to stop driving like a grandpa!!!!!!! (and put some stickier tires on the back to cut those 2.2 60' times down to 1.9's or better ).
BTW, shift @ 6000 RPM (and if it's got the factory 3.42's, then you can probably keep the car in 3rd gear across the line and save that last shift).

I think my car went 13.5 @ 105 or something like that, i really can't remember that far back. That was during a florida summer with like 1,500 miles on the car...its gotten a little quicker since then, no complaints.

Re: Stock LS1 M6 1/4 mi times
That's crazy, considering mine went 14.008 @ 101 (2.1 60') w/A4 + 2.73's when it was stock (might have had the lid then? ). The only problem was it was very hot and VERY humid when I ran it back then. But still, considering I've got 4.10's now, and I'm still not into the 12's yet!? (and poor traction isn't a concern whatsoever now).
