Stupid Brake Question

I went to change my brake pads on the front yesterday.
Me, being a moron, did't realize you have to place a wrench on the sleeve on the back of the caliper to remove the retaining bolts. So, like an idiot I tried and tried for minutes to get the bolt to come out before it occured to me I was doing it wrong. It was simply spinning the bolt & Sleeve.

The question is did possibly do any damage by spinning the bolt, and sleeve around like that?

Re: Stupid Brake Question

I think you may have caused seriously irreversible damage...scratches!! I seriously doubt you caused any damage, but on a positive note you did learn something about brakes!

Yea, I agree there's no way you could have caused any damage.

Re: Stupid Brake Question

You didn't hurt anything. If you were to take the caliper and bracket off of the car you would see how those "bolts" are really a pin with a bolt in the end. All you did was turn the pin around in the hole. The pin just slides into the bracket.
