Sub-frame connector for 02 Convertible?

Hey all,

Just recently purchased an 02 Z28 Convertible, and as I was perusing the internet looking for some quick upgrades, I came across the sub-frame connectors. Since I drive a convertible, I figured adding rigidity to the chassis would be a great upgrade, but all of the connectors I saw said they would not fit on a convertible.

This makes sense, since I know they have to bolster the frame since the roof isn't there to help, but I was wondering if:

A. Anyone makes a sub-frame connector for a convertible (or, if adding one in would help at all)

B. If anyone could post some pictures of the underside of a hardtop (or T-top) so I could do a comparison. (Sadly, googling didn't turn up much)

Thanks for the help!

Re: Sub-frame connector for 02 Convertible?

The big difference on the convertible is the addition of a large sheet metal "X" that (***I think***) ties the subframes to the trans mount and the cross-brace under the driveshaft tunnel. I've also seen reports that the rocker panels have additional sheet metal reinforcements added. I would suspect the problem is the x-brace and the sheet metal may interfere with the traditional SFC's, which hug the rocker panels.

They make some specific ones for your car. You have to weld them in, but it is well worth it.

I had an 02 SS and bought bolt in SLP connectors. I was really happy with them.

Currently, SLP (which has pretty much abandoned the 4th Gen F-Bodies) only lists SFC's for "coupes"..... no convertibles.
