Syncros????

I may be totally wrong but I think that I need to get new syncros. I have a 98 m6 and when i shift into mostly 1-2, 2-3 it makes a loud noise that is hard to discribe. I know i also need a clutch but i don't think this is the cause of the noise( almost a grind sound but not really) anybody who has had this problem what is it and how much was it to fix. It usually only happens on faster shifts but sometimes at normal driving. HELP!!!!

You need to have it over hauled

Should also have the steel 3-4 shift fork put in.

Try D&D performance transmission, the are the innovators at beefing up the T-56.

If it only grinds from the 1-2 shift its probably a syncro issue. I had a grinding that was the result of a colasping pressure plate and dying throw out bearing, that occured only when the car was cold and when i put the clutch in and put the car in 1st gear. Does the grinding only occur when the clutch is in? If so, its probably the syncro. If you get the grinding while letting off the clutch and putting the gas down, you may have hit rivets on your flywheel.

Don't rule out your clutch Hydraulics. I have a '98 M6 and have similiar problems with exception of the noise. My plan is to upgrade my entire clutch assembly and Hydraulics to Z06 components. Then see if there are problems shifting gears.

I'm looking for suggestions to where I could have the clutch work done in the Clearwater area.
