Temp. range

Just got a 2000 Z28 and it runs 205-210 all the time. Normal? Anyway to lower the temp that is proven and is it a plus on this engine? Thanks

I've noticed a lot of folks on this board run 160 thermostats. That would lower the operating temp. I've always just left mine stock.....

I wish mine was at that temp right about now. Your fine with those temps. Mine until today never passed the 210 mark. I either have a bad radiator or water pump, but you are ok. I have a 98 and the temp gauge moves a lot between 180 and 210. I ran it at speedtrials pretty hard and it never passed 210. Like I said now it's getting hot and I am going to have to shell out 300 bux to get a new radiator.

The 99-02 stock thermostats are more like dummy lights, mine stays at 210 after about five minutes of starting up my cold engine, I have pushed mine a lot, and it never even rests on the 210 mark, it stays just a tad below it, planning to install an A-pillar and installing a more reliable theromstat.

As long as I'm moving it stays just below 210. That's completely normal. If I'm sitting in traffic (happens often around here), it goes up. It never gets too far past 210. There have been MANY posts on whether it's worth it or not to get a 160* thermostat. I say leave it stock unless you really NEED to go lower. And it;s not even worth it to get just the thermo. You have to re-program the fans to come on earlier for any benefit. I say leave it stock biatch.
