Thinken about getting myself into some Nitrous.

What kinda shot could I run without being worried of damaging the engine? What all would I need and what kit do you recommend? How much would everything I need cost? Could this get me into the mid to low 12's? Thanks for all your help guys.

There is no safe nitrous shot. After my experience(s) I would never use nitrous again. But if you choose to get the juice make sure you have enough money to fix what you blow up.

The TNT kits are the best. Their 100 shot produces over 100rwhp & over 200rwtq. Make sure you get a fuel pressure safety switch & a window switch. Also get NGK TR66 plugs & always run the highest octane you can (93-94). A bottle heater is a must but skip the remote bottle opener. The set up new would be around $900 + install or so... If you add purge $1050.

Do it! You know you want to! The LS1 loves nitrous and I have had no problems with running my TNT wet with the 100hp jets. I also have the ProPurge and am working on the window switch. The kit was easy to install and if you have any questions, let me know. Ben

So you are saying that Im going to spend about $1000, and theoretically speaking I shouldnt have a whole lot to worry about if I have it installed by a pro. Right?

You can do it for a lot less than $1000 if you shop around. I'd do the install yourself (easy) and have the A/F tuned on a dyno. I am just winging it on the tuning and have no problems except traction. Make sure to change your plugs to copper if you are running platinum (I like the Tr6s) and check them regularly.

Go check out this info, when done correctly it appears you will not have issues. As with most things, cutting corners or trying to save a couple bucks can cost you. As soon as my dam vibration problem is fixed, my NOS kit is going in.

I've been using the NOS 5177 kits and the car loves it a 100hp jet landed me with a 12.06 @ 116mph. Of course I have a couple other mods and bigger injectors. If anyone is looking for some used kits I'll have 2 for sale in a couple weeks. One standard NOS 5177 and one NOS 5177 with all the goodies ( heater, window switch, SVO 30# inj, purge, extra jets, plumbed lid, K&N...).

KABOOM!! itll happen, sooner or later, if you run stock injectors, and pump. If you go thru with it make absolute sure you get a window switch it would suck to miss a shift and go KABOOM

Is it safer to run it with an auto tranny instead of a manual so ur not in danger of missing shifts?

Wink

Nope. No more "Kaboom" than a blower or turbo if you use common sense. If you use a wet kit, make sure you are past 3000 rpm when engaging to avoid fuel puddling in the intake. Check your A/F to avoid detonation which is your enemy regardless of nitrous or not. A wet kit will not need a fuel upgrade with 100 jets, but 150+ would prolly be prudent. Make sure you use quality electrical connectors and solder whenever possible. These engines LOVE nitrous!

There is nothing dangerous about running N20 as long as you do it right. Go with all the safety devices, window switch, FPSS. I have gages, heater, purge and remote opener. The remote opener is good because when you are not using the system you can close the bottle and take the pressure off the solonoids.

I spray 100shot usually and 150 at the track. But I know several that go 175-200 at the track. Anything more than 100 shot on the street for me equates to wheel spin.

Any way, go with a quality kit,get the safety devices, get a pro install and use common sense.

You shouldn't have any probelms!
