There are only 2 things I don't like about my cutout. The first is that it hangs pretty close to the ground after I got my long tubes. I scrape it going in and out of some peoples driveways. The other thing is also due to my long tube headers, it's just way too loud inside the car. The good thing is that you can cap it whenever you like, I only uncap mine at the track now.

As far as a loss of low end torque, it may feel that way, but I haven't seen any dyno sheets that prove there's a loss of low end torque. My theory is just that since the exhaust is so much louder, your more reluctant to step on the gas.

Hmmm.....you might be right.

With an exhaust cutout, you can cap it when you want the car quiet, or you can uncap it when you want it really loud.

On all my cutout vs. no cutout dynos there is no loss of tq. I see about 10-12 rwhp gain at peak and about a 10 rwtq gain at peak.

What I do see and suspect that people are interpreting as a loss; is at below 3000 rpms is no or little gain in rwhp - no loss just no gain.

Similiar thing with tq, except there is gain. But agian, it's just not as great as it is at peak - only a couple of ft lbs.

So relative to the high end power, the low end will seem less. But there is no actual loss.

From an asthetic standpoint, everyone is different. I only open mine at the track. With LTs and sans cats, it's just too loud for a daily driver - besides I have a bit of social consencious where my nieghbors are concerned.

I just installed the QTEC electric cut out. With the stock cats it's not too loud, I run it wide open most of the time. Haven't noticed any loss of power. Wish I had done it earlier.

Talking

I was thinking of going with an electric cutout and mounting it up from before the cat for track use only.
That way fumes wont bother me and I will see the most benefit.

That what I am currently researching.

Better look under you car ... you have 2 cats now and they butt right up against the manifold ... no room there for a cutout.
