Ticking = Bent Pushrod

Ticking = Bent Pushrod
Hey guys..i just made a thread about a week ago about a tickin i thought was the header..not the case..I pulled the valve cover off today (passenger side) and started pulling out the pushrods to check them. The very first one (front cylinder) has a nice bend in it. So that seems to be the problem. The car still always seemed to run fine, no rough idle, no starting problems...nothing..car still ran fine. Is just replacing the pushrods with some hardended ones alright? Everything else as far as spring/rocker look good. Little wear but nothing you wouldnt expect on a 70K motor. Thanks guy!!

Sounds like someone missed a shift or two . . .
I've broken at least two push rods and bent a couple too. Even broken in half there was barely any performance loss (only I could tell). It all depends on where the break is and if the valve keeps working.

well i swapped out the passenger side..and it seemed to quiet the drivetrain down quiet a bit....Unfortunatly..theres still a tick. I cant seem to think its still possibly somewhere in the exhaust. The car runs perfect still...no power-loss at all..and no other unfamiliar sounds.

Re: Ticking = Bent Pushrod
Check your plugs and wires. Not having a plug wire seated all the way will cause a ticking noise. I tried using some MSDs and could not get rid of the ticking despite making sure they were all seated several times. I switched back to OEM wires and no longer hear any ticking.
