tornado fuel saver

has anyone had experience with the Tornado Fuel Saver. Supposedly its supposed to increase hp, and save gas by cycloning the air into the air intake. Does anybody have it? Does it work?

It doesn't work, at all. A gimick, nothing more.

yeah they dont work they are on e-bay all the time. They actually restrict airflow and make your MPG and HP worse

My first hand experience.

On My dad's 89 GMC Sierra with 350 and (carb type) throttle body injection:
Worked well (better throttle response and gas mileage). Mostly because of the proximity of the 'vortex' to the point of air/fuel mixture. The closer the better.

On my 88 Bronco with 302 and EFI:
No change at all. The device was inserted in the tubing several feet before the throttle body. By the time the incoming air reached the point of air/fuel mixture any 'vortex' effect was gone.

Conclusion: If you have a car with a round air cleaner sitting on top of the engine, it'll work as advertised. Otherwise it is a waste.

Get a load of this thing
http://www.rpmoutlet.com/helix.htm
Its a tornado "knock-off"

I think the tornado thing is pretty worthless. I had one on my 1995 3.4l camaro and it didnt seem to do jack.

Any obstruction in a car's air path leading into the engine is not good and won't make you get better gas mileage.

That's because they can hardly handle their own weight, let alone any EXTRA weight!

Stupid Ford drivers.

I have one that came with my 94 GMC that I used to have and when I pulled it off, after running it w/ a K&N filter in that Vortec 4.3L Vortec V6 1/2 ton p/u, I gained more power w/ the tornado off.. I tried the Tornado in my 68 and it gave it a little more power but nothing in gas mileage (it still got 6 mpg in town and 8 mpg on the freeway guzzling premium).. Now I will add the fact that why these things do not work on 94 - Up Vortec V6s, 97 On Vortec Small Blocks and LS1s, is the fact that LS1 and Vortec heads already do what the Tornado is supposed to do, create a Tornado aka Vortec of the Air/Fuel Ratio mixture going into the Cylinder.. The Vortec Heads and LS1 heads do that when the Intake Valves open.. On an older engine like carbed enging or TBI non Vortec heads this thing will work but by much!! With Vortec/LS1 heads, these things are just a waste... I took the thing off my 68 C10 because I was not looking for 1 hp more and it did not even gain in gas consumption!! I recommend not using one of these, all they are in my opinion is a Waste of $$$$, that could be used for Mods to your car...
