Track times

Went to a track down here in georgia. It was only an 1/8th mile but still wanted to go. Drove about 60 miles to get there and had a blast. I was a bit disapointed with my times though. My two best runs where 8.438@85.3 with a 2.02 60' and a 8.551 @86.5 with a 2.119 60' I was running street tires so I know that was one of my problems I have LCA's, ADJ PHB, LT's, LM Cat back with !cats. SSRA LID Ported MAF, Ported TB smooth bellow and a shift kit. Its an A4. With 3.23 rear.

Don't really know what these times with equate to in the 1/4. I know I need some DR's or Slicks but don't go to the track but once a month. DR's are one of my future mods. With LCA relo brackets help with those 60's or are 2.02 about the best you can get with street tires. Will a adj torque arm help at all.

Also on my launches it didn't seem like I was getting to much weight transfer to the rear. The left front was lifting a bit but not much. Don't want to change my ride height but need something to transfer the weight to the rear a bit more I heard that some people are using V6 springs in the rear, does that work or is there another option for stock ride height.

Any help is greatly appriciated and welcome

That's about a 13.3-13.4 in the 1/4-mile. You're on par with my 1/8-mile times.

Do you think your LCAs make a significant difference at all?

Re: Track times

a 13.3 in the 1/4 that doesn't seem too stout. What TSP Rumbler do you have in there. Your only dynoed at 296RWHP, with all those mods.

Re: Track times

Mook, as a comparison let me share my times with you;

8.03 @ 87.01; 12.52 @ 110.04

Those times were with a 1.757 short time. I launched on 27" ET streets at 6600 RPM with bolt-ons. Shifts were slow due to bad synchronizers.

This run was with:

LS6 intake
fresh tune up
Thunder Racing tune (not a chassis tune)
ported stock TB
Mac midlength headers & ORY
open cutout
4.10:1 gears in my 8.8" hybrid
new Z06 clutch
SLP lid
stock maf (screened) and stock bellows
all suspension stock (except for boxed in stock LCAs)
all on the stock 106K mile shortblock.

This was in the dead of summer in south Louisiana. At No Problem Raceway Park, 14 ft above sea level.

That's what I was thinking...

Anyways, that run would have played out to roughly a 13.2 at 107mph. Get yourself a set of drag radials and a converter. Then you can turn that 13.2 into a 12.6.

Re: Track times

Don't really have an engine question. I posted this here because I wasn't getting any replies in the drag racing section. And since it is an LS1 thought it would work out but as usually I get s*** for posting in the wrong section. Thought the LS1 guys wouldn't mind helping me out even though this is an engine tech section. Its not like I am asking the same old "what cat back or what headers to run" Its an LS1 car so I wanted LS1 feedback. Sorry for my mistake.

Whoa dude...it was just a little sarchasm...at least on my part it was. Al's usually pretty cool too. Don't take it too hard. If I was truly giving you ****, I wouldn't have answered your question.

Is there more than one Al? Just kidding. Al's just a "by the book" kind of guy in my opinion. I don't think he tries to come across as being rude fwiw.

Re: Track times

Well, that's the best the car could do with a 2.0 60'. Like the guy above me said, every car is different. Every LS1 isn't a 12-sec. car like most owners think.

The dyno number is my sig. was with a Magnaflow muffler ONLY. I haven't dynoed since '04.
