Talking Traded in my 85 Vette for 01 SS.........

.........and I'm ready to start with the mods!!

It's not my first 4th Gen though. Before I got my Corvette I had a 95 Z28. Considering I had VERY minor bolt-ons it did pretty decent (I think) for an A4 w/2.73's........13.8 @ 101.

Best with my Vette was 13.7 @ 100. Not too bad for an 18 year old L98 (TPI) motor with 155,000 miles .

The power difference between the LS1 and L98 is friggin' insane! My Vette put out 350 lbs of torque, but the horsepower dropped like a brick around 5,000 rpm's. The LS1 just keeps pulling clear up to 6,000 rpm !! And of course I want more!!

The SS has the SLP two in the middle exhaust & Hurst shifter. It looks like the previous owner already did the CAGS delete, it has the SLP airlid and I picked up a K&N today. I next plan on doing the TB bypass, descreen the MAF (not sure about porting it though) & port the TB. I want to get the SLP Y-pipe and (maybe) the smooth bellows. I know it's it's not much but it's a start.

I've been on this board for about 7 years now. I was "Ron78Z92Z" until I traded my 92 for the 95, then I was "Ron78Z95Z" (spent A LOT of time on the board then), then once I sold the 95 and got the Vette I came to the 3rd Gen board every once in a while as "Ron78Z&85Vette". Now that I have the SS, I think I'll be spending a lot of time here.....got a lot to learn about the LS1.

Just kind of saying "Hi" more than anything else.

Congrats on the car, what color is it?

There must be a BIG acceleration difference between both cars.

SFB767.....Navy Blue Metalic. As far as the acceleration, I'm sure my 85 Vette could take the SS off the line (lighter weight & 333 rear wheel torque.....found my old dyno sheets ), but the SS would just walk all over it after that.

BlueLS1Z28......glad to see I'm not the only one!!!
I'd probably still have my '85 if it wasn't for the TERRIBLE paint job I spent good money on. The paint bubbling up was bad enough, but when I saw the paint on the hood starting to crack too (less than 1 1/2 year old paint job) ....that was the last straw.....pretty much completely disgusted me. My wife is the one that planted the seed in my head about picking up another 4th Gen. Cool wife huh ? At first I wasn't sure if I wanted to go through with it after restoring a basket case Vette to a sweet car (EXCEPT for the paint), but as I drove my new SS off the lot I took a look at my Vette and thought "It's somebody else's problem now".

No regrets at all.

your mod list looks good.

i wouln't bother with the smooth bellows, save the money for something that will actually gain you some money.

same goes for the tb, unless you plan to do it yourself. otherwise that is $150 thatyou can spend elsewhere.

i just installed a Bassani Offroad pipe and a magnaflow exhaust...and it sounds baddass! i highly reccomend ditching those cats to anyone...it rocks

you could also look into the ASP pulley, they are dyno proven to put about 8hp to the wheels (Speed inc dynoed it on their project car), so that's not a bad gain for $225

if you wanted to mess with the maf sensor, you could pic up a recalibrated ZO6 maf sensor for about $150 which has no screen and is 85mm instead of stock 75mm.
