True Dual question

I just bought a 99 Z28 M6 and want to run a true dual setup on it. I'm thinking of Kooks long-tubes(stepped) with Bassini X and true dual system. I also will need cats tho since I don't go to emissions until 08, and with this setup I doubt I'd pass emissions, which means I'd have to go for the waiver. Which I did in my old car, but when you do that they have to do a visual check for cats. So can I run this setup with some high flow cats? Will this setup even work/perform/fit??

Yes, you can run anything with cats.

Yes, it'll fit, but putting true duals on an F-body requires a bit of fabrication.

I was hoping that with Bassani making a true dual setup already that it wouldn't require any fabrication. Well, other than fitting cats in there seeing as it was designed without them I think. But it doesn't much matter, I know a shop I'm comfortable with that can probably help. Was just wondering if fitment would be an issue with the long tube race header and an already tight dual setup with adding cats. Will true duals get in the way of future mods such as subframe connectors, torque arms, etc? Thanks for the info. Sorry, don't know much at all about true duals on an f-bod.

Really think this will open the car up quite a bit. Plus be loud as hell and still have a real deep tone. Thats what I'm hoping for. And from what I've read Kooks is the best out there, and Bassani is quite good as well and seems fairly unique, I don't know that I've ever seen it on an f-body personally.

You can make similar power with a 3.5-4" single pipe setup. That was enough for my 396 LT1 F-body.

You will still make more torque on the true duals and a bit more hp. Its worth it IMO.

See my sig for pics.

Ya I saw that one too Jare. Think I'm doing the Bassani still tho. Does anybody have any experience with that setup? I can't imagine it'd be that complicated as its an off the shelf dual setup it shouldn't need any custom work really to fit, on its own anyway. Just adding the cats and clearing for the very low Kooks collectors I would think.

i've heard it was good. I have their standard catback rumble exhaust and i love it. full 3 inch but then again i upgraded from flows. I noticed a huge difference in sounds an HP.

i have plenty of experience with the bassani tru-duals. i have it on both cars. the wife's car has the bassani optimum length headers and basani metallicats.

mine is dynatech headers no cats. really, only minor work to fit full length headers and add cats.

depends on the mods and the current exhaust you're running.

i would guess if you're in the 400rwhp range...it would gain you 10hp peak...

I don't know if it would even gain you that much as long as you had a good-flowing system.

for me:

universal Xpipe - $100
magnaflow mufflers - $75 x2 = $150
misc hangers, and flanges - $50

couple hours on my back cutting, grinding and tweaking to get the pipes the way i wanted...

then i think $50 to have it all welded up (shop hooked me up..but still).

so not much...even cheaper if you go with cheaper mufflers. bullets are $30 each
