Post True Duals?

Does anyone with true duals have pics of under their car? If i got that could i keep the same Y pipe and then just have the pipe travel the same place but its two pipes instead of one? I dont really understand how it works. My mission is to make an exhaust that is in my price range and perfect for my ear.

Thanks

I don't think you understand what true duals really are. Imagine drawing a line vertically down the center of the car, right through the middle of the engine. now you have 4 cylinders on each side. Left side, right side. Now each "side" has to get it's exhaust away from the car with no help from the other side. so no, you cannot use Y-pipes. it is also more difficult on these cars because they don't really have room for true duals without clearance becoming an issue. If you want to do it the legal way, you need two cats (I assume you already have those, because the Y is after the cats) and either two mufflers, or a special muffler that is designed for dual, which basically is split into two pipes independant of each other. But the basic Idea is that, the left side 4 cylinders have to exhaust into the outside air without ANY contact with the exhaust from the right side, which also needs to find it's own way out.

True duals sound really great. I believe some mustangs have them, but I don't really care about mustangs.

I hope my post made sense. Usually I sound too confusing.

but I think it is common for an x pipe to be used. My guess is for the exhaust pulses or something..

In any case, most people feel that an X-pipe is needed for it to be done correctly.

so that would be the two exhaust pipe meeting somewhere around the middle of the car and then exiting the rear or where ever you want..

try to do something kewl like jus before the rear wheels or something..

hehe

I think April has by far the nicest looking dual exhaust on a 4th gen. Check out the pics and install tips here:

That is 1 sweet looking dual setup. How good is the over axel clearance on the drivers side.
Sweet though.
