If it done professionally and the door jambs, underhood etc are painted to match, I would say that it would not hurt the value. But, doing it "right" will probably cost more than the depreciation hit from not doing it right.
Personally, I would not buy a car that the paint was different in the door jambs. Also, factory paint is generally better than aftermarket paint, again unless you spend big bucks.

To help reduce any potential problem with resale value due to people wondering if the repaint is due to the car being wrecked I'd suggest DOCUMENTATION in the form of pictures. Take them before, during and after from many different angles. You also get what you pay for. Find a reputable shop and get a good brand of paint.
I've seen some cars with some really nice custom jobs. If I had the cash my SS wouldn't be the red it is. Think about it, the cars that usually get the attention at shows are the cars that are repainted a nonfactory color.
Also, I don't think you can just go get a new clear coat sprayed.
