Voltage problem...

My buddy is having voltage issues with his 1999 6-speed Z28. The battery is new, he said the alternator is new as well. You can drive it for about 5 minutes and then it dies, I haven't seen the car yet but I'm going tomorrow, is there any sort of voltage issue that's common on LS1 cars? The car does have an UD pulley but it never caused that much of a problem with my LT1. Opinions?

TIA

New parts can sometimes be junk. Have him test the battery and alternator.
