does the lt1's or the ls1's come with vortech heads....? oh, and i was just wondering ....could you take a classic 327 and put an lt1 or ls1 intake manifold on it? just sort of use the 327 block and and all of the other electronics etc. from the newer engines ?

LT1 = has LT1 heads

LS1 = has LS1 heads

My 99 Tahoe (96-99) = has L31 5.7 iron block with factory Vortec heads

LT1 and Vortec stuff is more likely to interchange.

LS1 stuff is completely different and will only interchange with LS6/ Zo6, and truck stuff.

To make things more confusing, all the 3rd Gen engines (including the LS1/LS6) are called Vortec engines by GM. But the Vortec heads everyone talks about wont interchange

but doesnt the vortec mean the same thing as honda's v-tech? variable valve timing, to give more power at what ever rpm you are at? instead of just having one rpm range that has the most power...and having dead spots in the power band?

not even close, the gen III smallblock doesn't have that nor does anyother engine gm has made, and nothing from the genIII SB interchange to the older smallblock.
