In the back of the lid then dirt gets by and larger paticles get trapped against the mass air screen. Does everybody have this problem and do all lids do this? Some say you have to bond some weather stripping the back of the lid to get a good seal. I think it's stupid if that all the manufacturers of lids can't make one that seal good all the way about the lid. What's everybody's view and experience on this matter?

Carbon Fiber "look alike" from Whisper <---- has always sealed. The only problems I had were in the front. http://www.thefbodyshop.com/technica...stallationId=2 - not a big deal if you pay attention to what you are doing.

I had a Whisper lid years ago and it fit beautifully. The Direct-Flo fits great too. Currently, I have the MTI clear lid. It's got to be the crappiest fit/finish lid in existance, but it seals. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I definitely have some issues with the fit and finish of the SLP lid that I have. But once I got it worked into the spot where it was supposed to sit, it seems to seal up fine. It's just a real b*tch to get it into place -- probably took just as long to get the lid on and closed as it did to get all that old crap off in the first place. :-(

Screw a lid ... just get an FIPK and not worry about sealing issues.

A FIPK costs $300 vs 100-140 for a lid plug 45-55 for a K&N or Holley Powershot. Also with the FIPK I heard you have to cut away part of the front tray or something. I will just get a Whisper lid with a Holley filter. Who has the best price? Thunderacing has the Whisper with a Holley filter, cleaning kit and breather filter for $183, add $20 for carbon fiber look. Does anybody have a better package deal?

Just bought my lid from LS1motorsports.com. They sell the directflow lid, fits good, and the price is right, $95 +10 for shipping, 01-02 even comes with the breather for the a/p. Great deal!!

I just placed my order from LS1motorsports for the lid and Holley powershot filter and cleaning kit. They do have good prices. I wonder how long it will take to get? Some placed take just two days to get parts and others take 2 weeks. I'm lucky I got a cool dealership service manager. Next on my list is a B&B Triflow or Corsa exhaust. Can you say $$$ for those systems. Need to sell my 89 5.0 stang. Thanks all for the input.

I've heard some people complaining about the SLP lid not sealing correctly. I've heard the Whisper Lid doesn't usually have sealing problems.

I just ordered my Whisper Lid from ThunderRacing.com.
