You will find a body colored bumper cover with "CAMARO" embossed in it, along with the 6 holes that were used to mount the fugly insert.

IMO, it looks like the car was designed NOT to have the insert, and then the guy who designed the Aztec came in and said "You know what would look good? This big gray chunk of body cladding!"

Check my sig for pics.
As posted above, there are ~6 holes for mounting the plastic grille, but I have mine filled. I also have aluminum gutter mesh in the bumper indents. Without the mesh in there you see the styrofoam bumper behind the nose cover.
Hope this gives you some sort of idea.
Dave

That's interesting! I didn't know that under the grill there is a body coloured fascia with Camaro embossed on it. I though it was just plastic and styrofoam. Learn something new everyday.

Question

Well now that that mystery is solved for me, can someone tell me how to remove it?? I spent 20 minutes messing around with it and I couldnt figure out anything except the tabs on the far left and right sides can come out. I know there are some on the top and bottom but Im scared to use a screwdriver because it might damage my paint.

How do I go about taking the grill off and how did you attach the gutter mesh to the front of the car. Thanks for all your help.

Easiest way to remove the grille:
Grab one side, gently work the side tab out of the nose, get a good two handed grip, then rip fast and hard... like pulling off a band aid. This will make all the retainers fall into nose. The only other way I know of would be to remove the nose. This isn't hard, but is a little time consuming.
Get your strip of gutter mesh, get your can of flat black paint, get your clear corners if you want 'em, and leave the grille on. Then all in one day, at one time: Take the nose off, remove the grille, paint the styrofoam that will be behind the mesh black, cut and install the mesh on the foam, change the corner lenses, reinstall the nose.
This would knock out alot of items and make some easier as well as keep your grille intact for whatever reason you might want to keep it. The nose has to come off to get the mesh in there like mine.
Hope this made some sense...

Cool

Ok cool, so youre saying basically the only way to remove that stupid thing (without a lot of trouble) is to destroy it right? Im cool with that, I just want it off!

The nose comes off with about 6 plastic pins in front of the radiator, another 8 or so pins on the bottom in front of the radiator, some 10mm bolts on each side below the fog lamps, and about 3 10mm(?) bolts on each side behind the headlamps at the seam where the nose meets the fender. The bolts going from the fender into the nose are the hardest, for me anyway, I have very large hands. The rest is cake, just don't forget to unplug the corner lamps as you pull away the nose so the wires don't hold you.
If you rip the grille off, some folks have it stay intact, some have it get damaged. I ripped mine off and tore a small spot, it's not bad and the grille could be reused, but it is damaged.
Dave

Edit: It has been a few years since I did this mod and haven't had the nose off since, so my bolt/pin count may be off some.

As far as painting the foam behind the mesh ... do what I did ... cut the foam out.

I took the trusty Ginsu knife and cut the foam in the same shape as the hole in front of it. I figure it probably helped move some more air up into the engine compartment and maybe moved some heat out of there.

Or maybe it didn't ... but it was nice to have it open behind the holes.

What about filling in the opeinings from teh grille. The nose has those slots for the grille pins. What has to be done to fill them in flush with the rest of the nose?

DING DING DING DING DING .... give that man a prize!

Taking it to a pro is the easiest thing to do, and it isn't too expensive to just have the holes filled and the paint blended.
