what engine
When I bought my Z the guy selling it kept telling my how the engine was new and from a 2000 vette which he said had a LT1 witch is a bunch of bs.
well the engine definitely looks newer then the 85k that the odometer reads but I can’t figure out what year ls1 it is all I
have is a receipt for an LS1 engine it could even be the same
engine the car came with but I got a good deal on it anyway.
from what I can tell it has egr so I’m guessing it's not a 2000 or above is there anything else I can look for to see what year it is
and would this affect what programmer I buy if it's newer then 98 would it still have the 98 PCM
Thanks srry it's so long

I doubt it is from a Vette, since the alternator is in a different spot on the Vettes

When a friend of mine had the engine replaced in his 99 Hawk they only replaced the long block and not all of the accessories. It just doesn't make sense to alter all of the emissions system and PCM for a simple engine swap. Unless your configuration looks physically different from another '98 you probably can expect everything to be the same as stock. Unless they changed out the heads, cam, exhaust and other stuff while it was out. The LS1 long block will be the same unless the cam is a little different. They changed little from year to year on Vettes and F Bodies.
