what mod are needed to get 400rwhp out of a 02 SS M6?

 

There are many ways to hit 400rwhp.

A heads/cam package will do it. Also, a monster cam on a full-bolt on car has the potential to hit 400rwhp... Other than those 2, any form of forced induction or nitrous will easily net someone 400rwhp.

 

ok, but i have to stay smog legal so huge cam wouldn't work. would the LS6 heads ported,and the LS6 cam get 400rwhp,including bolt-on,like headers,cat-back,lid w/ filter,ect.would a TB be worth it,i know they dont help the LT1 unless you making hig hourespower,but is differnt for the LS1

I'm curious about a LS6 heads/cam package too. My rwhp (estimated based on trap speed) is about 340 right now with just a lid and catback. I'd bet that ported LS6 heads, LS6 cam, and a high-quality set of LT headers, along with a good tune, would be worth another 60hp on my setup, but it'd be close, and it always varies a little from one car to another.

The word on the street is that the stock 10-bolt rear end can handle about 400 rwhp through an M6. Be careful! I saw two guys have to push their cars away from the starting line at M10 this year after throwing too much power at their 10-bolts on the launch.

I'm not going to do much to my car before I find the cash for a nice sturdy 12-bolt from Strange or Moser. After that come suspension mods and drag radials. I'm going to get traction and reliability taken care of, and then build horsepower.

 

i think the LS6 cam and heads idea will be hard pressed to make 400rwhp. specially through manifolds.

something like the TR224 cam with ported heads will put down right around 400rwhp and should pass smog with the proper tune.

an aftermarket TB isn't really worth the money. just have your stocker ported. and even that doesn't do much.

you have a few things going in your favor. first off you have the LS6 intake already, second the manifolds on your car are basically equivalent to shorty headers.
so unless you wanted to mess with illegal longtubes, you don't really need to waste the $$ on headers

 

Midlength headers would be an option too.

 

for an ls1? pass emmissions?
a CheatR cam(TR) or zo6 cam with AFR heads with a 90/90 setup will make 400rwhp and will probably pass sniffer maybe even without LT headers. If not spray away.

 

i think the $1200 spent on a FAST intake and TB would be better spent elsewhere. unless you're running big cubes, FI or a serious H/C setup, the LS6 intake is fine.

your car is probably right around 320-330rwhp...i think even with good heads and the LS6 cam...400rwhp will be hard.

not saying you'll miss it by much, but i would bet 380-390 is about right. which is pretty close, but still.

you're right on the "he didn't mention cost" thing...but still. that intake is ALOT even for someone with deep pockets.

Hmm, to each his own. Im getting a 90/90 setup and expect 20 whp and for 1200 i think its worth it. I think they are CARB but not positive
