what mod can get you 400rwhp

Re: what mod can get you 400rwhp
Lingenfelter cam - gt2-3 (basically an LS6 cam on roids) and LS6 heads would get you very close. The problem w/the ls6 and gt2-3 are that they offer little to no improvement under 3k rpm. Look at 220-224 grinds on a 114for more low end and still being able to pass tailpipe emission tests. You'll need a good tune on the larger size.
The CheaTR is cool, and is designed to work w/stock manifolds, but the over .6" lift would wear the springs quicker. TR has the "old man" cam too. MTI also makes some nice sleeper grinds w/less overlap to help w/emissions.
If you care to research it. There are some VERY good cam threads on ls1tech. You can learn how to calculate overlap which will help you decide on a cam that'll pass emissions. One guy got 400/400 at 6k rpm (cam only) w/a small custom ground cam on a tight LSA. This is power others are having to run over 6500 RPM acheive.
You really need to get a baseline to see how far you have to go. You may have a dog and it'll take more mods or you make have a freak anf it'll take less. Also if you can't put the power down it'll do you no good unless you're just a bench racer. I'd say upgrade your tires and suspension prior to even trying for that much power or you may find out what its like to lose to a less modded car.

money really is not a problem,so you guys are say a FAST intake(i want to put it on the bottle anyways),ZO6 cam,and LS6 heads proted, should make about 400rwhp,as long a i am close to 400rwhp,and smog legal, thats all i really car about, also a set of shorties wouldn't help make some power,so i should get some mid's, and how about high flow cats and y-pipe would that also help? i ve already looked into getting a 12-bolt. I dont even really drive the car that much eaither so i dont think i ll get the 12-bolt until i kill my 10-bolt.

Forget the Z06/LS6 cam, you'll be leaving power on the table. There are much better grinds with the same qualities that will pass emissions and LOVE spray. Seriously, do some research on the Lingenfelter GT2-3. If you are going to run a FAST intake, you might as well run more cam. BTW, if you do go LS6 cam, get an 02 or newer grind. But you'll wish you had more cam.
Not to push LPE, but they had a good deal on their LS6 heads. Haven't checked them out lately though.

If your not doing it on the cheap. 90/90 intake & AFR heads, sent out to Tony @ AFR for port matching, Cheatr cam and that cool new 90mm nitrous plate. Stainless long tubes with catted y.

Re: what mod can get you 400rwhp
you mentioned running mids...those aren't smog legal either, the move the cats.
so unless you can find a hookup someplace....you have 2 choices....stock manifolds or shorty headers for a 5hp gain/$500
i'm still not sold on the FAST. GMHTP (or whatever thier abrev is) did a test of intakes on a 420hp crate LS1. the FAST only showed 1hp more than the LS6 intake up to 6400rpm. it did show potential to yeild more above that, but still. i just can't see spending $1000 more bucks to gain minimal amounts of hp over the intake he has already.
but to each his own.
build the engine, dyno test it, then buy the FAST and show us what you gained... then we'll know. by all means...prove me wrong. although if you do...my wallet will cry because i'll be putting it on my wish list
