what is this tube on the 4l60E? (pic)

What is this thing for? Id imagine it has a purpose but it was so caked on with grime and oil that I didn't even know it was there until I cleaned it

Air vent because it has a sealed dip stick.

I was confused the first time i dropped my transmission, i didn't know what it was either and i was looking under the car for almost an hour thinking that i ripped out a rubber fitting or something

That vent should be connected to a rubber hose that runs along the torque arm.

Haha what rubber hose? You must have actually ripped something off or like me it didn't have one in the first place. When I reinstall it should I re-hose it and run it along to torque arm? if so where should the hose stop or hang from? or does it really even matter?
