HeHe. That was my Red Firehawk on base. Of course I didn't get on it going on to base, never really got over 2300 RPM's if that.

I got exactly what I wanted with the GMMG. Loud enough for a daily driver, NO drone at any RPM or speed. A nice and deep clear tone. And price was no factor for me. I can't wait to get headers and high flow cats. Should sound even better.

But you know how these exhaust threads turn out. Every is after something different when it comes to exhasut note/loudness.

See ya around TXZ28LS1. If I could of hit Valley Hi on outbound I could of given ya more to hear!

GMMG owns. And if you can't afford it, don't b|tch about it until you can afford it

$650 shipped isn't that bad considering it is around $50 to ship it. I constantly get compliments on my GMMG, and it sounds better and better the older it gets If you ONLY care about performance and saving money, go with the loudmouth. If you care about performance, awesome sound, and have a little extra money to spend go with the GMMG. I had to go with an absolutely awesome sounding exhaust to compliment my absolutely awesome looking car

Do you even have the system?? While I'll agree that it IS overpriced, however, so are many other systems (Borla, Corsa, B&B Triflow, etc.). Heck, even the SLP Loudmouth is way overpriced IMO for what it really is (nothing more than straight pipes with a silly little resonator that isn't actually a resonator at all). For that, all you have to do is hack off the muffler, have a Y made with the tips of your choice, and your set (could even throw a bullet muffler in the I for a bit cleaner tone, i.e. the "dynomouth"). This straight-pipe set-up flows very well (even with the factory mandrel bent 2 3/4" I).

For what I've had and heard, the sound, performance, appearance, and quality of this system is top-notch in my book. And BTW, the sound is suprisingly refined. Just a deep muscular rumble all the way to redline (unlike the SLP LM, Borla, Corsa, Magnaflow, etc.).

I'm more than happy with it. Like the other guy said, I personally do not like the way LS1's sound either, but this is one of the few set-ups (along w/ Mufflex & true duals) that actually makes this motor sound good/tough IMHO...

I gotta agree, LS1's really do lack in the sound depertment when compared to an LT1, the L98, any of the older chevy V-8's or really any of the ford motors.

I agree with LastHawk.......each person has their own opinion on what they want. GMMG's sound fills a certain niche market for certain people looking for a system that is loud, refined, and drone and rasp free. It maintains its form throughout the rpm band, doesn't wuss out or start to sound different up high. Is it the loudest system, no, but some people don't want the loudest system. Does everyone want a system that is rasp free? No, some people like rasp, like a buddy with an LS1 TA with Mac headers, no cats, and the LM. To me it sounds like ***, drones, and personally I'd be embarrased to drive it, but thats my taste. Ask a GMMG buyer why they paid $700 (full retail price shipped) and they will tell you the same thing that a person spending $350 or a LM will, they found an exhaust that fit them and bought it. Sure, there is a cost factor, and I am sure the price staves some that would like that setup away from it, but on the whole it is competitive with Corsa, Borla, B+B, and other setups like that. And you can find the system GP'd every so often and knock $50-100 off the $700 price tag. I guess the bottom line on 'What the big deal is' is no different then 'what the big deal is' for a Corsa, Borla, LM, Magnaflow, etc owner........The big deal is they found a setup they liked and bought it.

I also have the GMMG. To me the price was well worth it. Price is not an object when I buy parts. I want the best for my car. No half a$$ing. I have heard other systems as well....LM, B&B, Magnaflow, Corsa. I think the GMMG is one of the best sounding exhausts out there. I am continously getting comments on the way the car sounds. Never heard a bad thing.

My choice and my best might not appeal to someone else. Oh well. Find what you like and go with it. GMMG did a great job on this and I would gladly buy another from them.

I saw an add that was making fun of Porsche's that had a Boxster driving and all you said was the rear of the car. The add said:

"Because you don't have the ***** to drive an American V-8"

Damn Strait.

If I had that kinda money, I would get that new Ford GT40 before I would get a Porchse .

I wasn't so impressed with the GMMG either. I finally heard it and I was like "oooooook"? I guess people just hyped it up too much. People that have it say "I get so many compliments and looks with it". Well, all I got to say is TRUE DUAL BULLETS. Put those on your car and see what people say.

Well everyone has opinions... it comes down to what you like and what your willing to spend. When it comes to my car I always try to buy the best and for me at the time after hearing almost every ls1 catback on the market I gave gmmg a shot, even though I never heard it in person. I've read all the opinions, magazine articles, and heard sound clips. I've been extremely happy with my decision it is a quality piece and I've definately blown $700 on worse things and if I had to do it over again I would. My opinion coincides with sleeperZ96BT + Evil WS6 01.

and I do think true duels sound good as well, but theres no denying that gmmg is one of the nicest quality/sounding catbacks on the market for either an lt1 or ls1.

if your interested you can hear my car on the dyno vid I got here. This is catback only no headers

you might have to make up a user name and pw to see it.

Well guess what? I got the chance to hear an LS1 with a descent-sized cam, headers, no cats, and a TRUE DUAL X-pipe set-up with BULLETS and I personally didn't think it was anything special. While it did sound very, very mean at WOT (like a damn pro stock car), the sound was extremely harsh and had way too much resonance both inside and outside the car. Not to mention it was ridiculously loud. In fact, I liked the sound of another LS1 I heard with headers, highflow cats, and the GMMG a lot better.

So what are our opinions accomplishing? Nothing, because all they really are are just opinions/personal preferences. This is a stupid thread because the original poster started it with the idea of criticizing it. If you don't have it (or don't have anything descent to say about it, then why even bother posting something like this?). Because it's quite obvious that those of us who do have it clearly think it was worth the $$$...

Peace
