I have a 98 z-28 M6, ok if i dump the clucth at say 2,000 rpm why is it that when i shift into 2nd it wont even scracth?? like when i shift into 2nd it will bog, this si only when im trying to light the tire up, like if i driving hard and i shift into 2nd i can get a go scracth. soo whats the deal whit this?? thanks guys, also yes i know how to drive my stick car. i can do a burn out tell 3rd im my freinds 98 svt cobra, were about the same power. so whats up with my car, i think its my clucth or hydros. thanks for all the help.

What RPM are you shifting into 2nd at?

Sometimes when u pop the clutch in first ride it threw till second the cluch is still enganged thats how i burnt up my clutch, now i jsut stay in first and tap the throtal. Also ford has a lot harder shifting tranies then gm, my freind has a 2000 gt and he can chirp 3rd i cant even chirp third and i have a 2000 SS.

 

yea, but i know im shifting my car pro.. like if i wanted i could shift the car at a certian rpm and not use the clucth and it will change perfect. dont now whats the deal

 

Why are you doing a burnout til 3rd anyway?

 

turn off traction control, that's probably the bogging you feel..


If that doesn't work... shift faster.. I can spin 2nd, bark 3rd, and chirp 4th..

I have heared on another thread that these cars have a torque control programed into the computer so that you can keep traction. I don't know anything about it but mabey someone else does?

 

but you also have 4.10 gears. i doubt he does.

 

As Pentatonic asked, what RPM are shifting into 2nd at??
And as dist0rtion_69 said, make sure Traction Control is off.

If TC is off, and you are shifting at the top of 1st, your Z WILL burn 'em through the ENTIRE 2nd gear. Personal experience, but not in my SS that I own now. I probably will do it again right before I buy new tires
