Whats next? Slow with headers!

Ok, I installed the headers and the car is running great! No problem there. But I took it to the track and got a 13.5@105. I guess the Trap speed is good but still, I would think I'd be into the 13's alittle lower with 1300 in exhaust slapped on my car. Would the 2.73's kill me that much

You could be in the low 13's if you could get your 60' down. I would get some tires for the track and go back. It won't do any good to get more power, you would just have a worse 60'. Once you get tires, go get yourself a torque converter. That should drop you anywhere from .4-.7 depending on which one you go with.

But I barely spin the tires with the 2.73's. I spin them more from a 40mph roll then I do off the line. I have a good top end, I need to get more low end.

Tires are going to help with traction, from a punch or from a stop. The general rule is for every .1 in 60' that you drop at the track, you will take .15 off you 1/4 time. I had 2.73's in my LT1 along with a 3200 stall and cut a best of 1.87 60' on street tires. With a good stall and some tires to hook up, you should be in the 12's pretty easy.

It wasn't too hot when I went out, more on the cool side.. 65-70 out. And it was more at night time, 8-10pm.

How hard is a stall to install yourself? Plus It'd be less expensive to get a Gear and Tires then a stall and tires... but I guess a stall would get me more in the 1/4 mile.

How involved is taking the transmission out of the LS1? I know I have to drop it to install the new stall. I could do it in my Garage I suppose...

3.73 gears and a 3000+ stall converter would do it for you.
And, if that doesn't work try some NOS!

ok.. part of this may be your driving.

How are you launching?

Are you braking and trying to stall up?

The way I found that is best on a stock 4L60E tranny with stock stall to launch would be to flash the stall.
This is basically the equivalent to smacking the stall in the head with a hammer. hehe

At the light, after you have staged, put your left foot on the brake.
Hover your right foot over the gas but do not press it.
When you see the last yellow, swap foot positions by quickly removing your left foot from the brake and slamming your right foot into the gas and hold.
Be sure you are not trying to shift the car by yourself as its an electronically controlled transmission. Leave the car in OD.

Remember that you are at the track and you should have loads of traction.

I personally also have a full tank of gas. Along with helping my rear end plant it shows me that if I can run a 13.1 with a full tank then I MAY be able to get 13.0 empty..
hehe

good luck.

Keep practicing.

Something is up..You should have at least put a little on your trap speeds . Headers are a 20HP gain " LT's "

Well seeing as all my friends ran 13.5's@102 and I ran @105 .. I did have abit more top end. My 60' time was alittle worse though, they have 3.23's..

may want to try flashing your converter. I have a 98z with headers and hypertech and i pull 12,75's all day in street tires. This is with a 1.9 60ft. Its all about the launch

Whats the elevation of your track? I got 13.1 @ 106 with less mods then you at 600 feet above sea level. I have 3.23's but they in no way should outshine your headers. You should be a little better then 13.5 with your mods.

But I would definately look at torque converter for your next big mod.
