WHOA! stroke of bad luck...
I was changing the spark plugs on my LS1 today, and I was tightening one of the spark plugs. I was leaning pretty far over and my feet were on a section of carpet in my garage. Just as I had my hand on the wrench, the carpet slipped and I lurched forward.
Since my hand was still on the wrench, I jammed the spark plug in at WAY too much torque. For aluminum heads, it's around 11 ft*lbs of torque, but this plug went in at WAY more than that.
I quickly loosened the plug and took it out. I threaded it back in, and that seemed to go pretty well, so I guess I lucked out and didn't strip the threads. I started the car and it ran fine, so I guess nothing bad happened
But MAN, I was worried there, all 225 lbs of me, jamming a spark plug into an aluminum head.
