Why $900 For A Torque Converter

A friend of mine just got a $250 converter custom made..
He has tried others on his built car which has the following
mods: Lunati 408ci short block ***'y w/Lunati super bracket rotating ***'y internally balanced w/pro mod rods and Lunati race prepped block w/steel caps,
SLP T Ram intake ***'y, 1050cfm 58mm TPIS throttle body, Holley adjustable fuel regulator, Holley 255 lph. fuel pump, Motorsport 24lb. injectors,
Mike's custom dual ram air, TFS Twisted Wedge heads/fully ported, Comp Cams double valve springs w/titanium retainers, Crane 1.6 gold race rockers,
Comp Cams 4130 custom pushrods, Comp Cams hyd. roller lifters, B & B Performance valve covers,
Comp Cams Extreme Energy hyd. roller 236/242 duration .558/.570 lift custom ground @ 112 deg. lobe sep. w/1.050 reduced base circle,
Pro Form mini starter, SFI approved flex plate, Formato's Faster Prom, Crane Hi-6 ignition w/PS-91 coil, SLP 1 3/4 headers w/Jet Hot coating,
3" high flow cat, Flowmaster force two cat-back system, Auto Specialties street crank pulley, 6 1/4 Fluid Dampener, 4L60 Trans w/H.O. kit incl.
Rabestos Blue Plate clutches plus: Corvette servo, .500 boost valve, .296 int/rev boost valve, and TransGo 2&3 Reprogramming Kit,
Torco torque converter 3100 stall w/lock up, Summers Brothers 12 Bolt ***'y w/Auburn Pro carrier, Richmond 3.73 street gears,Energy Suspension bushings,
motor mounts, and trans mount, Hotchkis lower trailing arms & panhard rod, Air Lift air bag in the right coil spring, Jegster bolt in frame connectors &
drive shaft safety loop, Crane Cams vacuum assist canister, Moroso Blue Max sleeved plug wires, Bosch platinum plugs, Robertshaw 160 deg. thermostat,
Edelbrock hi-flow alum. water pump, Auto Meter Pro-Comp 2 tach

Save your cash and get a Midwest or a Vig converter because they have more bang for the buck with a lot less problems.
If I had to do it over again,
that's what I'd do and I have a Yank!
My friends have the others and they are very happy with them.
I think that 900.00 bucks for a Yank is a RIP,
unless it's made out of gold.
And, it isn't !!!
You can do a lot better then that for a lot less $$ just shop around.
